FLATS Presents: Sustenance

Sustenance explores our relationship to the things we eat and their inextricable link to our personal and cultural identity.

For all living things, food is the first necessity. More than any other natural need, we have built the daily quest for sustenance into a vast array of experiences and feelings that are as diverse and limitless as the human race itself. Each culture contains unique ways to prepare and consume food. Of all the basic functions that are needed to survive, dining is the only action that is regularly practiced as an art form and a competition.

The artists in this exhibition touch on many of the roles played by food in our lives. For some, traditional dishes serve as a connection to their heritage or to satiate homesickness. Others recall lost love through particular eating habits. For each of our artists, food is a point of change between who they were and who they are— a comfort and a crutch on the path of growth.

Latino Hustle: Brindis with Art Tooth

Brindis is a exhibit celebrating local Latinx talent in collaboration with Art Tooth. As part of the Family Reunion exhibition at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center we plan to showcase local Latinx artists doing big things.

'Brindis', or 'Toast', gives thanks to the many artists Latino Hustle has been able to showcase and exhibit in Fort Worth, TX. In the spirit of Art Tooth’s 'These are my Friends' program, we bring together a selection of local and regional Latinx artists who we consider friends. We believe these artists are making big impacts with their work. The exhibition brings Fabiola Valenzuela, Brenda Edith Franco, Melissa Gamez-Herrera, Juana Manuela Guzmán, Ricardo Orozco and Arnoldo Hurtado.

Family Reunion showcases the true talent in Fort Worth's artist community. Once again we'll be working alongside other Fort Worth Collectives including Art Tooth, Artluck, ART ROOM, Fort Worth Art Collective, Mañanaland and Dying Photo Club.

Opening reception will be held on December 7th at Fort Worth Community Arts Center from 6PM to 9PM. Artwork will be displayed until December 28th.

Reflection

Breathe Easy(B.E) at Noble Artisan has been created to welcome all into a space that is raw and unfiltered. The particular subject of this show is SELF-LOVE.
Here we have designed an interactive way people can leave their struggles at the gate and embrace positivity and life for everything it is.
Through art and love people can find a way to uplift each other.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
This is in response to the extreme amount of negative things going on in our world that may cause one to lose sight of their truest reflection of self.
-racism -mental illness’s -social rejection -stress -expectations -social media -misrepresentation inside and out of media -toxic relationships -suicides/genocides
the list goes on. and on.
The lack of SELF-LOVE can only lead to destruction.
A team of creatives and myself welcome you to a night to [B]reathe[E]asy and just B.E yourself. To assist you on that journey we will have :
